The wood base keeps it from sliding when I set a wet spatula down, and the marble wipes clean in one swipe. It's small enough to leave out on the counter without taking up space.

The marble top is heavier than I expected, so it stays put when I'm scraping a hot spatula across it. It's been sitting next to my stove for a month now and still looks like a little piece of art on the counter.

The wood base is what sold me—it doesn't slide around when I set a wet spoon on it mid-stir. Marble wipes clean in one swipe, and it looks way nicer on my counter than the old ceramic dish.
